📜 Everything you need to know before you book, visit, or offer your Qurbani with Al Ansar Farms

Who is obligated to perform Qurbani, what age can my son do qurbani?
  • Muslim: Qurbani is only required of Muslims.
  • Adult: The person must have reached puberty.
  • Once a person reaches puberty, they are considered an adult in Islamic law (shari’ah) and can be responsible for acts of worship such as Qurbani.
  • Sane: The person must be of sound mind.
  • Resident (Not a Traveler): Some scholars say Qurbani is not obligatory for those in travel status.
  • Financially Capable:
    • If a person owns wealth equivalent to Nisab (the minimum amount of wealth that makes one liable for zakat) after fulfilling basic needs (like food, housing, transportation), then they are obligated.
    • Nisab is roughly the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver (many scholars recommend using silver value, which sets a lower threshold).
Will Eid Salah be offered at Al-Ansar farms?
  • Not this year! There are a few masjids nearby. We encourage you to search masjids near Woodstock, IL zip code 60098.
What animals do you have and approx. weight?
  • We currently have goats and sheep weighting approx. 80-85lbs to.
Can I choose my animal before Eid, and who do I contact for that?
  • Yes! You can choose your Qurbani animal in advance.

Can I pay for my qurbani on the same day?
  • Yes, but animals may sell out quickly.
    Advance booking is strongly recommended to guarantee availability.
How many pieces of meat will I get?
  • At the farm, you’ll receive 3 to 4 large cuts.
Can I have my meat cut into small pieces?

    located at “6003 Dempster St, Morton Grove, IL 60053” where butchers can cut the meat into smaller pieces.
    ($50 meat-cutting service available)
Where can I Donate the meat for distribution?
  • Yes!
    You can:

    • Leave the meat with us at the farm

    • Or drop it at our sponsor:

      They will store and distribute meat according to Islamic guidelines.

Is there a place to pray at the farm?
  • Yes. We have a musala (prayer area) at the farm with separate spaces for men and women.
